United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (1958)

1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille Convention)

This is a key convention for the cross-border circulation of documents. It simplifies the certification of foreign public documents by replacing diplomatic or consular legalisation with the issuance of an Apostille, allowing public documents issued by one signatory country to be recognized in another one without the need for further formalities.

Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization

This multilateral convention established the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized UN agency dedicated to promoting the protection of intellectual property worldwide. Both Italy and Ukraine are parties to the convention, enabling them to benefit from streamlined systems for international trademark registration, notably the Madrid System, administered by WIPO.
This system allows trademark holders to protect their marks in multiple countries through a single application filed with WIPO, thereby simplifying and reducing the cost of the process. Accession to the convention also provides access to other WIPO-administered systems, such as the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and the Lisbon System for the protection of geographical indications.

This convention promotes the use of arbitration as an effective method for resolving international commercial disputes. It provides a framework for the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards among member states, enhancing legal certainty in cross-border transactions. Both Italy and Ukraine are signatories to the convention.
